Finally! The 2010 baseball season is already three days old and today the 7-dog trial catches up with it. Pity about Tuesday: dogs and books scored.

(Baseball dog picks for Thursday, April 8 are tacked on to this earlier post)

I can't say often enough that underdogs need to win 43-45 percent of all games in all sports for the bookies to make the extra gravy they think of as their due on top of the standard vig.

Yesterday, four of seven baseball clashes went their way, along with half of 12 NHL games, and five of the eight contests on the NBA schedule.

I'm only sorry that non-betting obligations kept me and the 7-dog trial out of the running yesterday - the 5x column would still be in the red, no doubt, but the 50x rules set might well have hit a new high!

Shoulda, woulda, coulda has no place here, so let's just move on to today's bets and the current summaries:

Thursday, April 8 at 4:45pm:

I'm a tad tardy with today's dogs but unrepentant because I have been catching up with local casino gossip, and making a little money to boot.

Apparently the switch to double-deck 21 with tight-ass rules is not going down too well after decades of single-deck with splits and re-splits, post-split double-downs and all those goodies, but the half mill they spent on a new ventilation system is being widely applauded.

I like the cleaner air and the new rules are just a passing nuisance that will vanish with the second-hand smoke once I get fully operational with the on-line competition.

Wednesday was another red number day for 5x but the smart-money variation (aka 50x) got a $4,550 boost to 86% of its trial zenith thanks to the NY Yankees winning a $5,000 bet at +130 and the KC Royals squeaking a 1-run victory ($900 at +120).

I'll post the summary tomorrow, or as soon as I get to stay home for long enough.

Today's diamond doggies:-

LA Dodgers at +125 (the game is long over but I haven't checked the results...honest!)
Washington Nationals at +130 (ditto)
Chicago Cubs at +150 (4:10pm PST)
Toronto Blue Jays at +110 (ditto)
Seattle Mariners at +125 (12:35pm)
Cleveland Indians at +125 (5:10pm)
Minnesota Twins at +120 (7:05pm)

Regular readers will know that I am a stickler for accurate math, and that crooked post-game punting would be anathema to me, assuming I was smart enough to know how to do it...and I'm not!

Much more tomorrow.

An important reminder: The only person likely to make money out of this blog is you, Dear Reader. There's nothing to buy, ever, and your soul is safe (from me, at least). Test my ideas and use them or don't. It's up to you.
